On the project

Many novel biomaterials are recently investigated for use in spinal fusion surgery, especially in lumbar interbody fusion. The X-ray microCT as a tool is widely used for evaluation, how successfully can those biomaterials perform the vertebral fusion. However, the current methodologies of microCT images assessment are based on visual evaluation by a radiologist. The aim of the project is to develop a novel approach for automatic quantitative evaluation of microCT data without the need for time-consuming subjective evaluation by a radiologist.
