On the project

Today's wearable devices provide some good levels of feedback to civilian users. Everything from the very common heart rate, pedometer, and sleep, to some innovation surrounding stress exist. However there are everyday extreme situations that humans have to operate in: firefighters are exposed to extreme heat and physical stresses, field police with physical and tense situations, standoffs, and operators of heavy machinery with high vibrational loads and thermal discomfort. The ICARUS ARMOR vest has been developed to capture a multitude of human inputs, which can be then mathematically processed to see what are the limits of a particular individual user before they begin to succumb to their environmental stresses. This can be measured by having users complete rapid tasks, while environmental heat and conditions are raised against them.
