On the project

Description in English
The project is focused on the development of smart insulated rail joints with integrated active sensors, which is based on piezoelectric composite elements, which provides a signal based on the load under trains. The project aims to develop a new SMART insulated rail joints, which will be used for all types of lines. The innovative solution also includes a wireless communication module, which can be used locally and evaluate the technical condition on the base of requested data. Otherwise technology of the Internet of Things will be used and data will be continuously recorded and the behavior of insulated rail joints will be evaluated. The technology conceived in this way will enable a completely new diagnostic use and predictive maintenance of railways with track circuits.
