On the project
The aim of this project is to investigate the fracture toughness of high entropy or entropy aided carbides. These carbides will be prepared using the novel preparation route from high entropy alloy and carbon by direct synthesis during reactive spark plasma sintering. The processing conditions will be modified with the aim of tailoring the microstructure and reducing the densification temperature. The effect of changing the milling and sintering conditions on the fracture toughness of the prepared carbides will be investigated.
