On the project
Spray-based surface coating is important fluid-mechanics topic applied wherever necessary to modify surface properties while keeping original dimensions. It includes surface treatment of implants, protective coatings in automotive, and solar panel coatings. Several spraying techniques will be applied for coating using different nanoparticle solutions and investigated by combination of exp. and CFD tools. Nano-coatings in height from the upper tens of nm to units of μm will be tested. Influence of device operating parameters on deposition mechanisms and formation of nanoparticle surface will be studied with evaluation of surface quality and structure of the coating (thickness, uniformity, roughness, adhesion). It will be done on surfaces of different topology, namely rough and textured. Acquired data sets of spray and surface quality will be processed using available machine learning methods with aim to reduce time and cost of the process. The results will provide new information on the potential of nanoparticle spraycoatings and effect of various factors on surface properties.
