On the project
The project proposal offers a unique interdisciplinary look at the physical and chemical peculiarities of multicomponent cobaltite-based La(Ca)-Co(M)-O-type perovskites prepared by alternative synthesis routes, concisely elaborating the combined chemical engineering and pressure engineering approaches. A selection of delicate in situ high-pressure powder compression/decompression experiments (X-ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy, emission and absorption spectroscopy, resistivity measurements) will be correlated and complemented with observed microstructural and physicochemical properties at ambient conditions, to provide platform development for cobaltite-based perovskites towards exotic features. The mechanical response of La(Ca)-Co(M)-O perovskites will be fundamentally scaled to 50 GPa for the first time, and the stress-activated modification of their electronic structure will be elaborated in detail. In addition, the effect of morphologically adjusted nano- and micro-sized doped cobaltite perovskites on the photocatalytic activity and catalytic performance will be investigated.
