On the project

In many optical systems, the polarization of light plays a crucial role. Typically, the polarization state is assessed using a serias of polarizing filters and waveplates or a polarimeter, which requires electrcity and a monitor to display the output. The presented project proposes a device with polarization-sensitive metasurface holograms to enable "at a glance" polarization state assessment (both circular and linear polarizations) while being ultra-thin, transparent, and without the need for electricity or additional post-processing.
