Standard methods for measuring the content of liquid moisture will be analyzed from the point of view of applicability in monitoring the hydration processes in cement paste. A new measuring device for monitoring hydration of cement in concrete based on the microwave absorption will be developed. The proposed microwave method will be verified by investigating the hydration processes in concrete with Portland cement. The measured results of microwave absorption in the setting concrete will be interpreteusing the correlation with the changes in mechanical properties and in the porous system, and with the generation of hydration heat. An empirical relation for calculating the relative permittivity of moist mixtures from the permittivities of its componentswill be formulated and compared with the known mixing rules.
