This group of technology and processes is the basis for any production in all industrial areas. Characteristics of the project
The project is focused on developing long-term cooperation in the field of computational simulations in the energy sector between the FME BUT research organisation NETME Centre and partners from industry (companies TENZA, a.s., Sigma Research & Development Institute, s.r.o., ČKD Blansko Engineering, a.s.) and municipal services (Teplárny Brno, a.s.). The subject of the project and the cooperation is the development of simulation models and methodological procedures for the application of computational simulations in various areas of the energy sector.

Characteristics of the project
The aim of the project is to harness the potential of the consortium of partners through a unique joint research project focusing on the following areas:
- Research into circular economy to assess the realistic future need for modern waste-to-energy (WtE) facilities and to evaluate the impact of future changes on conceptual solutions.
- Research into key technologies, systems and advanced controls that are components of the WtE facilities, including process and industrial biotechnologies that use by-products of WtE operations such as thermal energy and CO2.
- Research into the integration of individual elements and apparatus into modern WtE facilities and research into unique integrated multifunctional units to achieve high efficiency of processes and related energy systems, durability of technological units and reduction of environmental impacts.
The project will make use of the advanced research infrastructure of the participating research organisations, which enables a multidisciplinary approach to the issue at hand (chemical processes, energy, mechanical engineering, biotechnology).

The aim of the project is to exploit the potential of cold kinetic deposition technology and selective laser 3D printing for the preparation of metallic materials with functional internal architecture (internally structured materials). The use of numerical and optimisation methods in combination with controlled experiments will also be key to the solution. It involves the design and gradual optimisation of the geometry of the internal architecture of metallic materials using theoretical models and finite element calculations and the manufacture of these internally structured materials using cold kinetic deposition or selective laser 3D printing technology. The efforts will also be partially devoted to lightening the structure through voids and spaces not filled with material. A study of microstructural processes in materials during their production is also envisaged.

The aim of the project is to utilise the potential of the research centre to achieve internationally competitive research quality. The project is focused on the implementation of excellent research in the field of combustion carbon capture and storage using biomass – Bio-CCS, or its capture and use – Bio-CCU. The research will be specifically focused on oxyfuel combustion of different types of biofuels in fluidised bed, which appears to be the most promising from the point of view of new facilities, and on the entire technological chain associated with it, including oxygen production. Other key directions of the research include oxy-gasifying biomass and technologies for the use of captured CO2 for the production of liquid fuels. Within the project, related research will be carried out into the preparation of biomass for oxyfuel combustion and gasification technologies, the separation of condensable gases from final CO2 and into the modelling of the above mentioned processes and their process characterisation and datamining.

The project has the following aims:
The aim of the project is to improve the quality and relevance of education at the BUT in relation to the actual needs of graduates, employers and society. The project includes interventions in all areas of education at the BUT (except PhD studies). It pursues a spectrum of specific objectives that are strategic for the sustainable development of the BUT in relation to the needs of the target groups:
- Increasing the qualifications and competences of staff, in particular to improve the quality of educational activities.
- Modernising the study programmes across the BUT with the aim of developing practical education and simulation practice.
- Improving and systematising student internships and traineeships in companies/application sector and promoting student entrepreneurship.
- In cooperation with practitioners, adjusting selected strategic bachelor’s and master’s degree study programmes according to the current and predicted needs of the labour market and employers. Accrediting these study programmes, testing them and ensuring their continuous improvement.
- In case of justified social demand, creating new study programmes in selected fields in cooperation with employers.
- Utilising the extensive background of BUT collaborations with industry/application sector partners to increase the efficiency and relevance of the bachelor’s and master’s degree studies.
- Strengthening links with alumni and developing labour market monitoring methods to create a feedback for the relevance and quality of education. Introducing measures to strengthen the role and responsibility of students in the learning process.
- Streamlining the system of internships and traineeships for students in companies, thus creating a better link between theory and practice.
- Strengthening the international dimension of studies at the BUT through a set of coherent measures, including the introduction of new joint/double/multiple degree study programmes.

The project develops the current commercialisation system at the BUT. Project objectives:
The main objective of the project is to modernise laboratories for practical education in study programmes reflecting the needs of the labour market. Newly equipped laboratories will be created with equipment simulating an “intelligent factory” for the management of business processes. This will enable university students to acquire the necessary skills from real production and thus contribute to increasing the qualification of students of study programmes aimed at the labour market and thus to their improved employability.

Project objectives:
The project deals primarily with the instrumentation for the innovative post-bachelor Master’s degree programme Expert Engineering in Traffic, which will be prepared for accreditation procedure within the ESF call 02_15_015, SC1, activity 3, BUT project MOST. The project activities are aimed at supplementing and improving the quality of teaching laboratories with instrumentation and material and technical facilities for practical subjects.

The project focuses on modernising and supplementing the instrumentation and software needed to ensure high quality education. The project is divided into four areas: (1) support for new study programmes in Environmentally efficient buildings based on the needs of society; (2) support for innovative study programmes, including support for English; (3) support for the study programme Municipal Engineering; and (4) support for the availability of study materials and aids. The project builds on the complementary ESF project MOST.
