Original Abstract

Teaching a CS (under)graduate course "Parallel System Architecture and Programming" is a demanding task, especially if it comes to a practical component. The suitable introductory programming language should cover all programming styles and enable hands-on experience with parallel applications, but not necessarily on parallel hardware. In this paper we are presenting experience with the existing simple CSP-based tool (Transim) that has been used a unified way for multiple parallel architectures, algorithms, and programming models, far beyond the originally anticipated applications. The list of suggested projects, laboratory exercises and demonstration examples is given with the Transim code available from the author.
