Original Abstract

This paper presents methods how the geographic distance could be estimated in wired networks. Closer look is on Path latency model which uses knowledge of round trip time and number of intermediary devices to distance estimation. The results of calibration of Path latency model are shown in the paper and they are put in contrast with results presented in [7]. The accuracy of distance estimation is shown for various methods; the calibrated variant of Path latency model outperforms other methods. IP geolocation with usage of presented methods is done and its result is the slight advantage of calibrated Path latency model.
