Internet patří k oblíbeným komunikačním prostředkům, plní podstatnou psychologickou funkci v procesu hledání identity dospívajících adolescentů. Cílem výzkumu realizovaného u 122 žáků na druhém stupni ZŠ a na SŠ ve východních Čechách a na jižní Moravě, bylo zjišťování údajů o délce připojení k internetu denně, zkoumání preferencí vyhledávání určitého typu webových stránek, a hledání vzájemných souvislostí mezi těmito preferencemi, celkovou průměrnou dobou trávenou na internetu a demografickými údaji. K významným zjištěním patří výrazná preference sociálních sítí, a to především u dívek, dále korelace mezi výší sociálního statusu rodin a délkou doby trávenou na internetu a rozdíl mezi žáky ZŠ a SŠ v průměrné denní délce setrvání na internetu ve prospěch žáků ZŠ. Zajímavým závěrem je taktéž údaj o tom, že téměř polovina dospívajících by ráda věnovala volný čas „reálným živým“ aktivitám místo trávení času na internetu.

Internet is one of the popular means of communication , performs an essential function in the psychological process of finding identity of adolescents. The aim of the research conducted in 122 students in the second grade of primary school and secondary school in east Bohemia and South Moravia , was collecting data on the length of connecting to the Internet every day , exploring preferences search for a specific type of website and search the interrelationship between these preferences , the overall average time digested on the internet and demographic data. Another important finding is significant preference social networks , especially for girls , as well as the correlation between the level of social status of families and digested the length of time on the Internet , and the difference between primary and secondary school pupils in average daily length of stay on the Internet for the benefit of primary school pupils . An interesting finding is also an indication of the fact that almost half of teenagers would like to dedicate free time " real life" activities instead of spending time on the Internet.
