Original Abstract

The paper shows possibility how to improve thermal comfort and thermal stability in summer. The phase change materials (PCMs) used as latent heat storage media can absorb the building cooling load during the day and thus improve thermal comfort in a room or a building. The system was installed from experimentally produced boards with plaster. Plaster is modified by PCMs. We combine this structural material with capillary tubes filled with water to generate an active cooling device. Detailed investigation is performed in the test rooms for comparative measurements. Passive cooling based on the latent heat storage technology can contribute to energy and cost savings during operating of buildings in summer.
