Original Abstract
This paper deals with the procedure of preparing a hypochlorite solution by submitting to electrolysis the sodium chloride solution and its utilization for decomposing and removing the selected organo – phosphoric compounds – Paraxone and Fenitrothione. By supplying d.c. voltage to a suitable electrolyte, an electric field, which generates a rectified motion of ions in the solution, arises between the electrodes within the electrolyte. With the motion of the charge, the transfer of the substance can also be perceived. The organized motion of ions in the electrolyte finishes at the electrodes, where the ions hand over their charges and deposit themselves on the surface of electrodes as atoms or molecules or they enter into reaction with the material of the electrode or the electrolyte (re-combination). In the course of electrolysis, always hydrogen or metal deposits on the cathode – reduction takes place. The results of the electrolysis of the respective solution depend on material the electrodes are made of. The electrode, which does not take part in the electrochemical reaction (for instance platinum), serves as the electron donator. During the electrolysis of water, hydroxide ions appear on the cathode and hydrogen is released.
