Original Abstract

Natural sorption properties of lignite can be effectively used in various environmental applications. It is usually desirable to process lignite into some suitable application form, e.g., extrudates, pellets etc. This is done by mixing of lignite with moderate amount of water or water solution of additive substances making a paste, which is subsequently extruded. Because of inherent rheological properties of lignite paste severe problem is encountered during extrusion – “freezing” of the paste in extruder. This contribution presents our results of study of rheological properties of lignite pastes and shows how the problems can be overcome by using suitable derivative of cellulose as rheological aid.
