Original Abstract

The aim of this paper is to present the differences in construction costs between the Czech Republic and the Ukraine. The respective conditions in each country were taken into account when calculating the construction costs. For the purpose of this paper, we will focus on selected case studies of the construction of a production hall in the Ukraine, using 2011 price levels. The price comparison is based on the price differences in the individual construction works and building components at that time between the two countries. The differences in the individual construction works that differed the most were then subjected to analysis. Each of the construction works costs were calculated in Czech crowns using a pattern usual for the Czech Republic. The Ukrainian grivnas (UAH) were converted into Czech crowns (CZK) using the exchange rate. Based on the comprehensive analysis and evaluation this paper provides, it can be easily concluded that, due to the hourly rates of construction workers, the biggest difference between the Czech Republic and the Ukraine is in labour costs, followed by the differences in costs of materials and machines. The most significant difference according to the frame and walls component was the difference in labour costs.
