Original Abstract

The 'Inhibiton if reproduction of Collembola (Folsomia candida) by soil pollutants' test is standardized by the European Standard ISO 11267:1999 and has become one of the conventional soil tests for ecotoxicity testing of chemicals and matrices entering th esoil ecosystem. This contribution provides practical experience obtained durind introducing the arthropod test into practice. The insights involve culturre synchronization, feeding, conducting the test and the results evaluation, and the results of reference tests with boric acid. The optimized method was used to test waste materials in different arrangements and the results were comapred. After optimization, the Folsomia candida reproduction test is easy to conduct and inexpensive.
