Original Abstract

The hyaluronan-digesting enzymes or hyaluronidases are the most widely represented and important among all hyaluronan-modifying enzymes. Hyaluronidases, a class of enzymes cleaving hyaluronan (HA), could be divided to the three groups according to their mechanism of cleavage. The mammalian hyaluronidases, which are endo-beta-N-acetylhexosaminidases, randomly cleave beta-1,4-glycosidei bonds in hyaluronic acid, chondroitin and chondroitin sulfate.
