Original Abstract
Buckling resistance (including flexural buckling and lateral-torsional buckling) is major design parameter for many structural glass components. Buckling resistance is influenced by several parameters: boundary conditions, slenderness and initial imperfections. Initial imperfections, in particular initial geometrical out-of plane curvatures are very poorly presented in literature. In this paper measuring and determining of initial geometrical imperfections of fifteen specimens are presented. Measured specimens had the same dimensions but they had different composition – there are made from monolithic glass or laminated glass using PVB or EVA foil bonding together annealed glass panes or fully tempered glass panes. The shape of initial overall bow was measured using CARL ZEISS testing equipment. Information about initial curvature shapes and amplitudes are major conclusions resulting from statistical evaluation of tests.
