Original Abstract
Optical access networks are widely developed all over the world. Their importance is significant, in the sense of design of broadband access networks, especially in larger cities due to high number of potential customers. The GPON (Gigabit Passive Optical Network) is dominating passive optical network standard that dominates in the Europe. Although optical networks are considered to be secure it is necessary to deal with the security question of the access optical networks. All NGA network standards define the algorithms and ciphers to encrypt data bidirectionally but the secret key is transferred as a plain text. In general, the standards reliance on the transmission method in optical fibers (optical frame is not easy to decode). On the other hand, if an attacker is able to decode only single frame with secret key, he/she is able to read bidirectional data. Our article deals with possibilities of the security issues in Next Generation Access networks.
