Original Abstract
Proposed study deals with functionalization of poly(lactic acid) (PLA) with itaconic anhydride (IAH) via radical grafting in melt. Reaction was initiated by 2,5-dimethyl-2,5-bis(tert-butylperoxy)hexane (L101). Residence time was 6 min and the reaction temperature of 187.4 °C was calculated according to Arrhenius equation. At these reaction conditions L101 is completely decomposed and degradation of PLA is limited. Structure of thus prepared PLA-g-IAH and grafting yield depend on several key parameters such as temperature, IAH/L101 ratio and reaction time.
