Original Abstract
The pedestrian bridge over the Labe River in Kolín is designed as a three span suspended bridge structure. The most important part of dynamic design was to determine the human induced loading. Pedestrian loading, whether walking or running, has been studied rather thoroughly and is translated as a point force exerted on the support, as a function of time and pedestrian position. The literature and various regulations put forward various values for the critical acceleration. There have been computed responses of the structure to excitation due to walking of pedestrians intentionally at a synchronized pace corresponding to one of the natural frequencies.
