Original Abstract

Publikace zkoumá roli středoevropské architektury v průběhu posledního století. Rozšiřuje stávající úhly pohledu a hledá alternativy k tradičním výkladům dějin architektury – od počátku 20. století přes období poválečné obnovy až k postsocialistické transformaci. Soustřeďuje se na širší souvislosti: mapuje mezinárodní spolupráci jednotlivců i velkých organizací, výměnu ideových konceptů i sdílení technických řešení. V rámci současné historiografie přináší nový přístup sloužící lepšímu pochopení fenoménu modernity u nás i v mezinárodním měřítku.

English abstract

The publication investigates the role of Central European architecture over the past century by searching for alternative perspectives to expanding and revising existing narratives – from the beginning of 20 th century to the adaptations in the post-war period, and its reflection in the post-socialist condition of the region. It focuses on broader context: international network of people, ideas, institutions, technical solutions and encounters. It represents a new approach in the framework of current historiography that will lead to better understanding of the phenomenon of modernity in our land and in international scale as well.
