Original Abstract
The aim of this paper is to review modern and proven methods and techniques of sample preparation and subsequent assessment of the layers, prepared by most commonly used techniques of previously mentioned heat treatment, which are used in industrial practise. This work is also focused on correct technique of sampling of components with layers and also some suggestions for consumables selections are given. Discussion about the correct observation methods, measurement of layers thickness and its hardness is mentioned. All the methods are suggested according to technical standards. Suitable and unsuitable techniques for measurements of micro hardness of very thin layers are also mentioned, including instruction for selection of suitable load with regard to mechanical properties of tested layer.
