Original Abstract

When analysing the distribution of errors in a bit stream transmitted over telecommunication channels we sometimes come across a situation, when short bursts with a low number of error bits are separated by comparatively error-free segments. This situation is very close to what we refer to as independent error distribution in transmitted bit stream. If we want to protect the transmitted bit stream against these errors, a possible way of doing so is to use very short correction codes. In the following, a detailed description is given of solving this type of problem using codes that can be considered very short.
