Original Abstract
IEEE 802.15.4 is a very popular standard for low rate wireless personal area network (LR-WPAN) due to its low energy consumption and different short range applications. Packet error rate (PER) of 802.15.4 PHY layer in the presence of a third node as a wireless relay between source and destination node is analyzed. PER is obtained from the bit error rate (BER) and the BER is obtained from signal to noise interference ratio. PER increases the no. of retransmission as well as energy consumption. The main focus of this paper is to investigate that under which relaying strategy PER is less so the energy consumption in PHY layer can be reduced. The simulation results are shown to validate the analytical formulations.
