Panelové domy představují velkou část stávajícího bytového fondu a přestože jsou ve většině případů již na konci své předpokládané životnosti, nelze je v nejbližší době nahradit a je potřeba tuto dobu prodloužit. Jedním z nejslabších článků panelových soustav jsou zejména styky a nedostatečná tepelná izolace obvodových panelů a provedení povrchových úprav obvodových částí budov. Lodžie a balkóny u panelových domů jsou ve většině případů ve velmi špatném stavu. Poškození je způsobené pronikáním vlhkosti do konstrukce, degradací povrchových nátěrů a hloubkovou korozí konstrukce zábradlí. Tyto vady lze sanovat speciálními tmely a nátěry nebo zcela novým řešením balkónové či lodžiové konstrukce. Často pak takovýto objekt dostane zcela novou tvář a vymaní se z uniformity, která byla důsledkem prefabrikace a hromadné výstavby.

The panel houses are big part of current housing resources and in spite of being mostly at the end of expected lifetime period, it is impossible to exchange them in short time and it is needed to postpone the time of this exchange. One of the weakest part of the slab blocks are mostly touches and thermal insulation of the siding panels and designing of insufficient surface treatment of the buildings siding parts. The panel houses ambulatories and balconies are in most cases in very bad condition. Damage is made by infiltration of humidity into the construction and by degradation of surface film and bottom erosion of railing. These mistakes can be saved with special cements and protective paints or with new resolution of balcony and ambulatory construction. This building very often gets absolutely new face and it emancipates from the uniformity, which was the effect of prefabrication and mass building-up.
