Original Abstract
Thermal treatment of wastes is accompanied by the release of a considerable quantity of heat that depends on the heat value of the waste being processed. An important task of process-technology solution is to utilize efficiently the heat value of the products of incineration and this way partially compensate for the costs of waste thermal treatment. Energy utilization in an incineration plant can be carried out by means of a heat recovery steam generator (HRSG), which is used for generating of steam of particular quality for external or internal needs, and/or a heat exchanger, so-called recuperator, which may preheat either air used for combustion or other purposes or flue gas entering the stack. This paper deals with simplified computational model of a HRSG based on mass and heat balances. The model enables to study the most important parameters of a HRSG – Pinch point and Approach point – as well as other important parameters, namely steam pressure, superheated steam temperature and flue gas flowrate. An application of the model for various operating conditions is discussed in a case study.
