Original Abstract

The presented paper deals with methods of sealants testing, where the authors summarize their experience in given field. It is a summary of the four-year research focusing on evaluation of sealants in interaction with underlay materials. Focus is on official test methods included in European technical standards; the benefits of individual methods, their advantages and disadvantages are discussed. As a part of the paper there are reviewing conclusions of practical application of test procedures applied for 10 commonly available industrially produced sealants on 8 various underlays, including façade tiling boards used for the systems of light building envelopes. The article includes general conclusions regarding individual test methods. Parts of the research are different methods of preparation and conditioning of test bodies that simulate the conditions of environmental effects and, in some cases, they are quite decisive for final evaluation of the sealants.
