Original Abstract
This paper presents a new algorithm for calculation of cable-pulley systems. This algorithm enables taking into account the magnitude of radius of each pulley. The procedure is suitable for application in general FEM codes and offers higher accuracy of results at reasonable additional cost, compared to radii neglecting approaches. It enables to model cable passing through multiple pulleys and include internal dry friction in arbitrary pulley axis. It has been implemented in the RFEM program because of its accuracy and high efficiency compared to the previous algorithm. The paper contains the comparison of the commonly used algorithm, which ignores pulley radius, and the new algorithm.
