Original Abstract
There are many techniques available nowadays, but for computationally intensive problems (typically nonlinear FEM calculations) we are constrained by small number of Monte Carlo type simulations we can afford. The paper proposes a method which combines the spectral decomposition of covariance matrix and improved Latin Hypercube Sampling (LHS). Paper tackles some extremely important aspects of random fields simulation for SFEM with small number of simulations at satisfactory accuracy: improvements to both basic statistical moments and autocorrelation structure of simulated random field. All these aspects are important for computational efficiency, robustness and accuracy in SFEM.
