Original Abstract

Ionic liquids (abbreviation IL) form a rather new family of ionic compounds. Their major feature is freezing point in the range of common temperatures or even lower. They exhibit electric conductivity, the best of them in the range to 10 – 20 mS/cm. Due to their extremely low vapour pressure, their resistance against incineration is extremely high and they are very stale against electrochemical reactions. The latter benefit is apparent in the potential range of their stability; this effect is known as “potential window”. Naturally, an idea of their application as a ironically conductive solvent for lithium batteries appeared.
