Original Abstract
Intercalation, sometimes also called as an ion insertion, is a process, which dominates the battery world today. It is the mechanism of reversible occupying and releasing interstitial positions in host materials of lithium-ion batteries. This contribution deals with the estimation of structural changes of graphite materials during intercalation of different ions by X-ray diffraction. Structure change based on the change of diffraction spectra will be revealed for lithium ion intercalation (occurring in Li-ion cells) and perchlorate anion intercalation used for electrochemical graphite exfoliation to synthesize graphene oxide.
