Original Abstract
The current trend in the design of steel structures leads, due to the saving of the material, to the frequent use of thin-walled cold formed steel sections. The thin-walled cold-formed steel profiles are often manufactured with web holes. In the design of such a thin-walled steel members with web openings arises a question of correct determination of the real cross-sectional properties. This paper focuses on the problem of the real torsional characteristics determination, which are parameters needed for the design of members subjected to the bending with respect to lateral torsional buckling or for the design of the compressed members prone to torsional buckling or flexural torsional buckling. These torsional characteristics include St. Venant torsion constant and warping constant.
