Original Abstract

Cramer ve své knize Words made flesh: Code, Culture, Imagination komplexně analyzuje koncept kodu a ukazuje, že digitální kod, který tvoří základ fungování digitálních médií, má bohatou kulturní historii, jejíž počátek lze datovat už do doby vynálezu písma. Javůrek zasazuje knihu do širších souvislostí, sumarizuje základní Cramerovy teze a zamýšlí se nad inspirativními otázkami, které kniha klade.

English abstract

In his book Words made flesh: Code, Culture, Imagination, Cramer comprehensively analyzes the concept of code and shows that the digital code underlying the functioning of digital media has a rich cultural history whose origins can be dated to the time of the invention of writing. Javůrek puts the book in a broader context, summarizes the basic Cramer's theses and reflects on the inspirational questions the book puts.
