Original Abstract
One of the basic performance categories is sustainability. Since concrete is one of the most important and useful materials in the construction sector, which, unfortunately, has an adverse impact on the environment, it is evident that correct procedures for designing and/or assessing concrete structures need to be created. The present paper discusses a tool that enables the quantification and comparison of various cases. it introduces a simple equation for calculating the sustainability coefficient kSB, taking into account lifespan, performance and eco-costs. Examples are shown for different definitions of service life, performance and impact on the environment.
