Original Abstract

This paper deals with the permanent magnets excited synchronous machines having the slotless stator coil construction. The common knowledge of mechanical structure of these machines and their advantages and disadvantages for TAH (Total Artificial Heart) applications are discussed here. The history of used of these motors in the different artificial heard systems is presented as well. Then there are stated some results of operating characteristics, which are obtained by measurements on the different heard pump systems (single/double ventricular pumps with centrifugal or turbine propeller). Construction of the slotless motors is attractive and is suitable for brushless motors using magnetic bearings. Synchronous motor is run from the simple frequency converter, switch by the help of induce voltage in the stator winding. Control of the magnetic active bearing can be analog or digital one. Design of these systems can be recommended for both portable and implantable drives.
