Original Abstract

The research presented in this paper follows previous experiments with the stability of dynamic biometric signature (DBS) under the influence of various non-standard conditions presented at ICCST conferences in past years. In our new experiments performed in a hypobaric chamber, we investigated the effect of limited oxygen supply on the central nervous system (brain hypoxia) on the stability of DBS. Hypoxia has a profound impact on human psychomotor functions. The experiments showed that the DBS wasn’t significantly changed even under these conditions. In the comparison with general proprieties of the handwriting, the signature is a deeply fixed process (by the graphical output and the content). Factors possibly affecting handwriting then don't affect the signature itself. Signature may be considered as a habit, rather than a writing – we don't think about what we are doing during the act of the signature. The results of the experiment with hypoxia showed physiologically unexpected conclusions even if the previous tests with DBS showed very resistant stability of the signature. The act of signature can be regarded as a deeply learned automatic activity uninfluenced even by the extremely harsh physiological stress as deep hypoxia. These results confirm our previous ICCST publications from 2014-2018 about the very limited – or even absent – possibility to affect the dynamic biometric signature.
