Téměř deset let po odhalení hodinového stroje přišel sochař Oldřich Rujbr s myšlenkou vydat o něm svědectví. Proč až po tak dlouhé době? Odpověď je nasnadě a je spojena, jak jinak, s fenoménem času. Teprve s odstupem se mohlo rozkrýt a odhalit nepoznané, seznámit široké publikum s prvotními úvahami, dovolit nahlédnout do tvůrčího zákulisí a rozplést jemná přediva vztahů, za kterých dílo vznikalo a je provozováno. Vytvořil jej společně s architektem Petrem Kameníkem, se kterým se jako učitel a student poznali na brněnské fakultě architektury. Získal punc nepřehlédnutelného symbolu města Brna. Dílem, které nutí jeho pozorovatele se zamyslet.

Almost ten years after unveiling the clock, sculptor Oldřich Rujbr came up with the idea of giving testimony about it. Why after such a long time? The answer is obvious and is linked to, how else, the phenomenon of time. It was only with hindsight that it has been possible to uncover the unknown, to familiarize the general audience with the initial considerations, to allow insight into the creative process and to unravel the subtle network of relationships that the work has created and from which it has operated. Rujbr created the work with architect Petr Kameník. They met each other as teacher and student at the Faculty of Architecture in Brno. As a work of art that makes the observer think, it has gained the hallmark of being a striking symbol of the City of Brno.
