Současný trend směřování společnosti k cirkulární ekonomice se začíná promítat i do stavebnictví. Použití obnovitelných surovin, jako je dřevo nebo obecně materiály na rostlinné bázi, je společně s využitím recyklovaných materiálů a technologických postupů umožňujících snadnou recyklovatelnost staveb, základem pro trvalou udržitelnost ve výstavbě. Rostlinné materiály zároveň během svého růstu pozitivně ovlivňují zadržování vody v krajině a efektivně tak brání přehřívání půdy, čímž snižují náklad na ochlazování staveb.

The currently trend of society towards a circular economy is beginning to be reflected in the construction industry. The use of renewable raw materials, such a timber or plant-based materials in general, is, together with the use of recycled materials and technological processes enabling buildings to be easily recyclable, the basis for sustainability in construction. At the same time, during their growth, plant materials have a positive effect on water retention in the landscape and thus effectively prevent overheating of the soil, thus reducing the cost of cooling buildings.
