Original Abstract

In this article, we investigate the behavior of graphite rods subjected to electrochemical etching. The essence of the method is to create a membrane of the etching substance over the ring of the electrode metal; a graphite rod connected to the opposite pole of the voltage source is immersed in this membrane. During the electrochemical reaction, the graphite rod gradually dissolves in the cross section of the membrane rod, which eventually leads to the fall of the lower part of the rod. This type of etching allows you to sharpen graphite rods up to a few nanometers in diameter at the end. We believe that this technology will find application in the creation of various electronic devices, used in particular in automotive electronics.
