Original Abstract
The main aim of this article is to describe the basics of quantum key distribution (QKD) and its possible applications in the near future. A connection to a conventional aggregated network is modeled using the VPIphotonics Design Suite. Simulations are performed based on ID Quantique (IDQ) devices called Clavis3 and their coherent one-way (COW) protocol.
