Acoustic and Mechanical Vibration Sensor: New Approach for Monitoring of Fiber Optic Infrastructures
Type
conference paper
Language

Original Abstract
Optical fiber sensing is a rapidly evolving method for vibration detection that enables both distributed and point measurement of acoustic and mechanical vibrations. The paper presents our own developed optical fiber sensing system for vibration measurement using state-of-polarization changes detection a analysis. To achieve the best results, the output power of the laser source was first optimized and based on signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and cross-correlation calculations. Subsequently, a long-term measurement of simulated events on a real infrastructure was performed and evaluated.
