Original Abstract
Infectious complications caused by Staphylococcus aureus (SA) strains represent a significant burden for worldwide healthcare systems from an epidemiological, economic and health point of view. Despite the dedication of considerable financial, research and clinical resources, infections with this pathogen are burdened with unsatisfactory results. The progression in the selection of resistant forms of strains (methicillin-resistant SA - MRSA, glycopeptide-intermediate-resistant SA - GISA, vancomycin-resistant SA - VRSA, linezolid-resistant-MRSA, etc.) very often causes a dramatic reduction in the therapeutic possibilities with classic antimicrobials. Other assumptions are not very favorable, and therefore the search for new possibilities or a return to previously established therapeutic concepts with the use of novel biotechnological processing is essential. The resentation is focused on the current strategies for solving soft tissue and hard tissue infectious complications caused by SA and the current outlook on possible therapeutic alternatives using innovative options, such as phage therapy, enzybiotics, and antimicrobial peptides.
