Original Abstract
Moisture in building construction affects negatively its properties. In porous materials moisture spreads in both liquid and gaseous state. The fluctuation of water in its liquid state is the result of the capillary phenomenon. The description of the humidity field in a construction material is therefore of major importance, since it is not only a prerequisite for the correct solution of potential defects or failures, but it’s also the basis for simulating its further changes. A non-destructive observation of the motion of liquid water contained in porous materials using microwaves ranks among the most suitable methods.
