Kniha Apollo a Marsyas. Příběh dějin umění na Moravě je syntézou dějin umění, týkající se historického prostoru Moravy od pravěku do naší současnosti. Kniha je členěna chronologicky a zahrnuje všechna odvětví umění – architekturu, sochařství, malířství, fotografii a okrajově také užité umění. Začíná pravěkým uměním, uměním takzvané Velké Moravy, reflektuje středověk, renesanci, velký prostor je zde věnován baroku a osvícenství a následně se témata (malířství, fotografie, architektura) přesunou do 19. a 20. století. Poslední kapitola, týkající se přítomnosti , upozorňuje spíše na sociologické fenomény, které se k umění v našem prostoru váží. Příběh umění na Moravě je zasazen do širokého historického, kulturního a sociologického kontextu. Text si všímá konkrétních uměleckých děl a realizací, ale stejnou pozornost věnuje i umělcům, jejich zázemí a obchodním strategiím, respektive objednavatelům, mecenášům a sběratelům, kteří na měli moravské umělecké provincii podobný význam, jako samotní tvůrci. Důraz je pochopitelně kladen na aristokratickou kulturu, církev, města, zahraniční vlivy, ale kniha se věnuje i dalším tématům, jako je role žen v umění, ideologie, propaganda, reprezentace, nacionalismus nebo nová média. Publikace je doplněna rozsáhlou obrazovou přílohou, seznamem literatury, poznámkami a seznam vyobrazení.

The book Apollo and Marsyas. The Story of Art History in Moravia is a synthesis of art history concerning the historical area of Moravia from prehistoric times to our present. The book is divided chronologically and covers all branches of art - architecture, sculpture, painting, photography and marginally also applied art. It begins with prehistoric art, the art of the so-called Great Moravia, reflects the Middle Ages, the Renaissance, a large space is devoted to the Baroque and the Enlightenment, and then the topics (painting, photography, architecture) move to the 19th and 20th centuries. The last chapter, on the present , draws attention rather to the sociological phenomena related to art in our space. The story of art in Moravia is set in a broad historical, cultural and sociological context. The text notes specific works of art and realisations, but pays equal attention to the artists, their backgrounds and business strategies, or commissioners, patrons and collectors, who were as important in the Moravian artistic province as the artists themselves. The emphasis is of course on aristocratic culture, the church, cities, and foreign influences, but the book also explores other topics such as the role of women in art, ideology, propaganda, representation, nationalism, and new media. The book is supplemented by an extensive pictorial appendix, a list of references, notes and a list of illustrations.
