Original Abstract
This research paper focuses on the performance parameter identification and further analysis of homopolar electrodynamic magnetic bearings, which utilize levitation to achieve suspension. This levitation is made possible through the interaction between the magnetic field generated by a set of permanent magnets and the one excited by induced eddy currents in the rotor caused by its relative motion. As the electrodynamic bearings problem is not fully understood, and mathematical descriptions are lacking, models are often utilized to describe the performance of the magnetic bearings. To determine the model parameters, finite element analysis is adopted. Additionally, the stability of the magnetically levitated system is described by the Jeffcott rotor. The objective of this paper is to present the operational range within which the electrodynamic bearings can perform stably.
