Original Abstract

Compared with the past years, there has been significant growth in overhead line cabling, followed by the growth of capacitive currents in compensated networks. A high value of capacitive currents does not necessarily result in a considerable increase in residual currents. The residual current serves as an essential parameter for determining the safety of the compensated network, especially in the event of a permanent earth fault. The main aim of this research paper is to describe experimental measurements conducted to verify the accuracy of present methods used for estimating the residual current. The emphasis is also put on the analysis of the tuning process of arc-suppression coils.
