Original Abstract
This study focuses on the measurement and analysis of shock response spectra (SRS) with a particular emphasis on the importance of signal processing and filtering. The experimental setup involved acquiring data on a shock machine and using a data acquisition system consisting of an accelerometer and a sound and vibration module for data acquisition and storage. The results demonstrate that the measurements are highly repeatable, with very little variation. However, the measured shock signal revealed some distortion in the supposed haversine shock waveform, specifically higher frequency components that affect higher frequencies in SRS. The study found that filtering can be effective in terms of removing noise and other high-frequency components from acquired signals, but it is crucial to choose an appropriate cut-off frequency for the filter to avoid adversely affecting the frequencies of interest. Fitting the measured signal with a half-sine waveform was an effective approach for minimizing these effects and obtaining accurate SRS results. Overall, this study highlights the importance of careful signal filtering and processing in the measurement and analysis of shock response spectra.
