Original Abstract
Alkali-activated materials are a low CO2 alternative for ordinary Portland cement binders in the building industry. Benefits however usually comes with some cons and for these materials there is more of, for example poor workability because of limited functionality of commercially available cementitious plasticizers. That’s why our study deals with effect of different dosage (0; 0.5; 1.0 and 1.5% mass of precursor) of lignosulfonate plasticizer (LS) in these materials, which were prepared from common used alkaline activators with concentration of Na+ 4 mol∙dm-3 and precursors, namely ground granulated blast furnace slag, high temp fly-ash and metakaolin. For the better view there is also comparison to functionality of LS plasticizer in ordinary binder pastes based on Portland cement. The article deals with influence od LS plasticizer to rheological behaviour of fresh alkali-activated pastes. Rheology was tested by rotation and oscillation measurements by help of DHR-2 rheometer and results shown big improvement of workability with use of NaOH as activation solution. These rheological tests are also supported by plasticizer adsorption tests on used precursors. Results also shown zero workability of plasticizer in metakaolin samples because of minimal interactions between particles in these suspensions.
